01Traction where a house is slippery
Around two thirds of the bathroom injuries that reach a US emergency department happen in or around the tub or shower, and barely one in fifty happens on the way in. The dangerous moment is the way out, onto a wet floor, and that is the moment every Gorilla Grip mat is cut for.
Every Gorilla Grip card prints the size, the pack count and the material, so you can measure your floor before you decide rather than after the parcel arrives.

Memory Foam Bath Rug, 24x17 in, Graphite24x17 in on the floor · $14.99
02Start with the room
A bath rug and a rug pad look like the same idea until you own both. One absorbs water and stays put on tile; the other is invisible and stops a nine-by-twelve carpet walking across a hardwood floor. Pick the room and the shelf sorts itself out.
Eight shelves, one question asked eight ways, and every piece on all of them belongs to the Gorilla Grip selection.

04How the brand got here
Gorilla Grip started with a bath mat and a complaint that had nothing clever about it: the rug in front of the tub would not stay where it was put.
The first fix was the boring one. Instead of weaving a prettier rug, the Gorilla Grip team went at the underside of it, and kept going until a wet foot landing on the top of the mat could not shift the bottom of it. That is still the order everything here is designed in: the face of a product is what you look at, the back of it is what the product actually is.
The catalog widened the same way, one complaint at a time. A rug that slides on tile is the bathroom version of the problem; a nine-by-twelve carpet creeping across hardwood is the living room version; a cutting board skating on a wet counter is the kitchen version, and a food bowl pushed across the floor by a determined labrador is the version with a tail. Same question, eight rooms, and the answer in each case is a texture, a weight and a backing rather than a slogan.
What that means in practice is unglamorous. A backing compound has to grip tile without gluing itself to a floor finish. A chenille pile has to hold a bathtub’s worth of drips and still come out of a domestic washing machine intact. A tub mat has to keep suction on an enamel floor for months while somebody stands on it wet, and let go cleanly on the day it is lifted. None of those are breakthroughs. They are the parts of the job everybody skips.
Today the Gorilla Grip range runs from a two-dollar corner gripper to a nine-by-twelve pad, and the same test is behind all of it: put it on the floor, stand on it wet, and see whether it moves.
A mat lowers the odds; it does not abolish them. Federal guidance asks for non-skid mats on every wet surface AND grab bars inside and outside the tub. That is an and, not an or, and no rug on this site is a substitute for the bar.

05The bathroom, both sides of the wall
The wet side and the dry side want different objects, and Gorilla Grip sells them as different objects. Every card here prints the size in inches, because a rug that arrives four inches short is a rug you live with.

07What it is made of
Almost every disappointing mat in the world is a good material used in the wrong room. Chenille in a shower stall is a wet rag, and silicone under a bare foot is cold and hard. Gorilla Grip uses five materials, and the table below is the shortest honest guide to which belongs where.
Thousands of soft cotton-feel loops. Takes a lot of water fast, dries with air under it, and comes out of a domestic wash without matting. Its place is the dry side of the tub wall.
A foam core under a plush face. Warm underfoot on cold tile and forgiving to stand on while you shave or dry a child. It holds water rather than shedding it, so it wants air and a wash cycle.
A moulded sheet with hundreds of cups. It works inside the tub, on a smooth clean surface, and it will not hold on a textured or freshly refinished floor. Lift it weekly and let both faces dry.
The two-layer pad that lives under a rug. Felt gives thickness and quiet, rubber gives the grip. It is the one product here you buy hoping never to see it again.
| Material | Where it belongs | How it washes | Where it fails |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chenille | Dry side of the tub, sink, in front of a toilet | Machine wash cold, tumble low | Inside a wet tub: it stays soaked |
| Memory foam | Cold tile, in front of a vanity, kitchen sink | Machine wash cold, air dry flat | Under a door that clears the floor by less than an inch |
| Suction rubber | Inside the tub or a shower stall | Rinse, wipe, hang to dry | Textured, non-slip or refinished tub floors |
| Felt and rubber | Under an area rug on hardwood or tile | Vacuum, spot clean, air dry | Under a rug on deep carpet, where it has nothing to bite |
| Open mesh | Entryways, boot trays, dog crates | Hose off, shake, air dry | Bare feet: it is built to scrape, not to be soft |
Nothing in the Gorilla Grip way is asked to work in two rooms at once, which is why the material sits on the card next to the size.
08Under the rug and at the door
A pad and a doormat are the two things in Gorilla Grip that do their whole job out of sight. One keeps a carpet from walking across a floor; the other keeps the floor clean enough to walk on.

09Ninety seconds on the floor
The face of a mat is what you look at. The back of it is what the mat is. This runs across six of them close enough to see the field of cups on a tub mat and the rubber under a rug pad.
10Against the alternatives
There are only so many answers to a sliding rug, and most households have tried two of them. Here they are side by side, including the ones that do not involve buying anything at all.
| The fix | What it does well | What it costs you | Honest verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| A plain cotton bath rug | Cheap, soft, washes easily, comes in any colour | No backing at all: it moves the first time a wet foot lands on it | Fine on carpet, a hazard on tile |
| Adhesive strips or decals | Permanent grip inside a tub, nothing to trip on | They bond to the tub, discolour with age and take the finish with them when removed | Effective, and close to irreversible |
| Rug tape or velcro corners | Almost free, invisible, holds a rug corner flat | Adhesive residue on the floor, gives up after a few washes | A patch, not a fix |
| A rubber-backed rug | Grip and absorbency in one object you can wash | The backing wears, and after enough hot washes it hardens | What most bathrooms actually need |
| A separate pad under the rug | Grips, adds thickness and quiet, outlives several rugs | It is a second purchase, and it has to be cut or sized to the rug | The right answer for anything larger than a bath mat |
The bottom two rows are where the Gorilla Grip catalog lives, and the first three are worth trying before you spend anything at all.
11Kitchen, pets, desk and garden
The same backing logic runs through the whole Gorilla Grip catalog: a standing mat at a sink, a bowl mat under a dog, a chair mat under a castor, a glove that grips a wet handle.

12By the name people type
Sixteen pages, each one a single line of the catalog laid out by size, colour and price. If you already know the thing you want from Gorilla Grip, start here rather than at a shelf.
The mat in front of the tub, in chenille, from a 24 by 17 inch step-out to a 60 by 24 runner along a double vanity. Loops standing on end take the water off a foot instead of pushing it across the tile.
All 26, by size and colour →The corner of a bathroom where a rectangle does not fit. Thirteen depths, because the measurement that decides a contour mat is the wall behind the cistern to the front of the bowl, and elongated bowls run inches longer than round ones.
All 36, by size and colour →Inside the tub wall, where the floor is wet before you arrive and suction is the only thing holding. A 35 by 16 inch mat for a bathtub, a 21 by 21 square for a stall, and drainage holes through both.
All 13, by size and colour →The layer that stops a carpet travelling a hand span a year. Twelve cut sizes from 2 by 3 up to 9 by 12 feet, sized two inches shorter than the rug on each side and trimmed with scissors where they land proud.
All 16, by size and colour →Standing still on a hard floor tires a body faster than walking on one. Ten lengths, from a pad at a single sink position to a strip that covers a galley run without an edge in the middle of the walk.
All 22, by size and colour →13Before you pick a size
Almost every mat that disappoints was the wrong size, not the wrong mat. Six minutes with a tape measure settles all of it, and the numbers you need are printed on every card here.
Take the clear rectangle the mat will actually lie on: tub wall to vanity kickboard, wall to the front of the pedestal. A room that measures eight feet across rarely has eight feet of open floor in it.
If your measurement falls between two sizes, take the smaller one. A mat forced to ride up a skirting board or a kickboard will not lie flat, and one that does not lie flat has already started to move.
Run a palm across it. Smooth enamel takes a suction mat. A moulded non-slip base, a sandpaper texture or a refinished surface gives the cups nothing to seal against, and the answer there is a textured mat that sits on top instead.
A mat needs enough length that both feet land on it before the third step reaches your floor. That is about 35 inches. Anything shorter catches the first footfall and passes the second one indoors.
The number that matters is the working line, sink to stove, not the floor plan. One long mat beats two short ones, because the gap between two mats is exactly where a heel lands.
Buy the pad a size below the rug and trim it with scissors where it lands proud. A pad that reaches the edge lifts the rug and collects dust along it; a pad an inch short disappears.
14Standards, and what they cover
The bathroom is one of the least regulated surfaces in an American house, and that is worth knowing before you weigh any brand’s promise about it, Gorilla Grip included.
ASTM F462, the consumer safety specification for slip-resistant bathing facilities, was withdrawn in 2016. The federal product safety commission states its current purpose as working with ASTM to re-establish it or write a new one. Until that lands, no tub, shower floor or mat in the United States can be certified against an active bathing standard.
US Consumer Product Safety Commission, read August 28, 2026The B101 family sets out how floor traction is measured: wet static friction on hard floors, wet dynamic friction, and separately the wet BAREFOOT condition, which is the one that matters in a bathroom. They are test methods for a laboratory or an auditor, not certificates a product carries.
National Floor Safety Institute, read August 28, 2026Non-skid mats, strips or carpet on every surface that can get wet, grab bars inside and outside the tub and shower, and every carpet in the house fixed firmly enough that it cannot slip. Three requirements, and a mat answers one of them.
National Institute on Aging, US National Institutes of Health, read August 28, 2026Size, pack count, material and colour, read out of our own product data. Those are the figures you can hold a tape measure against, and they are the ones this catalog stakes its name on.

★★★★★
A small bathroom
Perfect size for my small bathroom. Very soft and your feet sink in. Easy clean up as well, just shake it out toss in the washer and go. A nice variety of colors as well as sizes.
★★★★★
On ceramic tile
This rug is very nice. It is not as plush as I thought it would be, but it is so soft and comfortable on bare feet and a huge improvement over the old rug that was there. I purchased a larger size to run the whole length of the bathtub. The grip is good (ceramic tile floor) and the rug does not slide around like our old one did. The color is vibrant and I am very pleased with the purchase. I feel like it is good quality and worth the money I spent on it. It feels like it will last quite some time.
★★★★☆
Bought several at once
Overall I love this mat. I got a bunch for the bathroom. This one was the only one not perfectly square and one side was not perfectly straight which is why I dropped a star. Color is vivid. Very soft underfoot. Great size in front of bathtub.
★★★★★
Replacing an older mat
We replaced an older bath. Our new bath mat is just right. It grips the tub floor securely. It doesn't block the drain. It feels good on the feet as well. The color fits the color scheme as sn added plus.
★★★★★
Hangs it up after a shower
Our new mat arrived a few days ago and it is wonderful. The color matches the color I selected, our feet are happy with the material, it adheres well to the tub. Hanging it up after a shower is no problem.
★★★★★
Keeping the height down
Works perfectly. Easy to trim to size. Holds area rugs securely without adding additional height.

Under two small rugs
I ordered 2 of these to go under the small rugs in my bathrooms. They do have a strong grip, lie flat, feel durable, and will keep my rugs in place. They were also a great price to solve a big problem. I am taking off 1 star because they both had the same issue, which is that they are slightly larger than the rugs. It was enough that they had to be trimmed since they were sticking out from under the rug. The material was thin enough to cut, but since it’s a stretchy "rubber" type of material, you have to pull on it to create tension while you’re cutting. You are trimming this narrow little edge that extends beyond the rug, and it was not that easy hold the tension on that small amount of material while I made the cut. It was very doable, and I would recommend these and purchase them again

Two cooks, second order
Well made cutting boards. Love that there are three sizes so I can use the most suitable one for my work, and my husband can also use one when we're both cooking. He likes the grooves around the edges to prevent leaks, and I like that they stay in place. This is the second time we've bought these boards.

Vegetables and bread
I really like these so far, especially having a set that comes in different sizes. They're very sturdy and don't move around when cutting like pretty much every other board. The only downside, and it's not really any different from any other cutting board that is white, is that they stain pretty easily (and I'm only cutting vegetables & slicing bread), but it's nice to be able to throw them in the dishwasher so that they stay sanitary.

16About the brand
Everything here answers the same complaint: the thing you put on a floor moves, and the interesting half of it is the half you never look at.
On the market since 2014, 12 years of answering one complaint in 428 pieces across eight shelves. The bathroom came first and did not stay the whole of it: the same backing logic runs under a hallway rug, a cutting board on a wet counter and a dog bowl on tile.

17Before you order
Sizing, washing, what the backing needs from a floor, and where a Gorilla Grip order is actually placed.
Every card on this site carries a buying button, and every page has one at the bottom. The button opens the current price at our retail partner in a new tab; payment, delivery and returns happen there rather than on this site.
If you know what you want, the button in the header opens the whole range at once. If you do not, the eight shelves above narrow it down by the room the thing ends up in.
The woven and foam bath pieces wash cold and dry on low. The rule that matters across every shelf here is heat: it hardens a rubber backing until it cracks, and it collapses a memory foam core, and a mat that has been through a hot dryer starts sliding months before it had to.
Measure the floor the mat will actually sit on, not the room, and take the next size down rather than up. A mat forced to ride up a skirting board or a vanity kickboard will not lie flat, and a mat that does not lie flat is a mat that travels.
Every card on this site prints the size in inches or feet, because a photograph of a mat tells you nothing about the floor it has to cover.
The pads and mats here are made to sit on a sealed hard floor without bonding to it. Two habits protect a finish whatever is lying on it: lift the mat every few months and let the floor underneath breathe, and never put anything down over a floor finish applied in the last few weeks.
Construction, not size. A chenille mat, a memory foam mat and a felt-and-rubber pad of the same footprint are three different objects with three different jobs, and the card prints the material next to the price so the comparison is on the page rather than in your head.
A mat is finished when the backing stops holding, and that usually arrives long before the face looks worn. Put a hand on it and push sideways: if it slides on a clean dry floor, no amount of washing will bring it back.
18Worth reading first
Sizing the floor around a tub, stopping a big rug walking across hardwood, and getting a suction mat to hold on a surface that was never meant to be gripped. Three jobs the Gorilla Grip team gets asked about more than any others.

Most bathroom rugs are bought by eye and returned by tape measure. Here is the whole floor, in inches: the drip zone at the tub, the standing spot at the sink, and the awkward shape around a toilet base.
