What Gorilla Grip is

Gorilla Grip shower and tub mats

02What decides it

What goes on the wet side of the tub wall

Suction mats for tub floors and stalls, exfoliating mats, bath pillows and waffle curtains.

This is the shelf that answers the statistic. Roughly two thirds of bathroom injuries that reach an emergency department happen in or around the tub or shower, and only about one in fifty happens getting in. Almost all of it happens on the way out, on a wet enamel floor, and that is precisely where a suction mat lives. The figures and the agency that published them are listed on our updates page.

Suction needs a smooth clean surface to bite. A tub floor with a moulded non-slip texture, or one that has been refinished, gives the cups nothing to seal against, and no amount of pressing will change that. Check your tub floor with a palm before you order: if it feels like fine sandpaper, the mat for you is a textured rubber one that sits on the surface rather than one that grips it.

Gorilla Grip shower and tub mats: questions

The three things people ask us about shower and tub mats before they choose a size.

Will a Gorilla Grip shower mat hold on your textured tub floor?

Suction mats do not. Cups need a smooth continuous surface to seal against, and a moulded non-slip base or a refinished enamel gives them nothing. For those floors the answer on this shelf is a textured mat that sits on the surface rather than one that grips it.

Which Gorilla Grip mat size fits your bathtub?

35 by 16 inches is the standard tub length, and it covers the part of the floor you stand on. A square shower stall takes the 21 by 21 instead.

Will a Gorilla Grip shower curtain fit your tub rail?

They are cut to 72 by 72 inches, which is what an American tub rail expects. Measure from the rings down if your rail was raised during a remodel.
